Domestic Violance

As I listen to the presentations being shared, I was caught up in the one on Domestic Violence. I was astonished about how many females stay in these types of relationships. It made me really sad that people do this thing to their girlfriend. After I thought about the fact that the people that murder the most are the sons that has a mother that got attacked and their victim is the father, it all made sense. That, however, doesn’t make it right. I felt like I needed to do something. This is the one presentation that really got me listening.

Danger to the world?

As I continue my research on global warming, many people think that in future water will end up submerging all of New York in water! This could happen because in the last 100 years, the sea level has risen 6-8 inches. This is because the earth’s overall temperature has increased half a degree Celsius over the past 100 years and it has melted many ice caps. If all the ice caps melted now, the sea level will rise 230 feet. This is according to the National Snow and Ice Data Center This is why many people are worried about global warming and all its affects.

Global warming debates

I have been reading about the pros and cons of global warming and have been very supprised about the results. I found out that this is a very heated debate. Some people belive that it is just a hoax and that it has been going on for ever and that we are just now noticing it. On the other hand, there are some pretty crazy people that are so worried about global warming that they are buying all "smart" items like solar panals, smart cars and energy ifficant items. I am kind of in the middle on this topic and belive that it is still around but we need to do somthing about it.

Center feild

In my independent reading book, Center field by Robert Lipsyte, a lot is going on in Mikes life. It says, “The air was damp with beer and sweat, and sweet with pot.” Mike got initiated to teak captain in his friends basement. This is when Mike is at a party that he didn't want to go to until he found out he was soon to be captain. Mike is in big trouble with Kat, his new crush. "Im captain because the think i ratted out the cyber-club." She believes that he ratted out the cyberclub and that he was just trying to get them in trouble. I don't think that she believes that he is behind it. Mike isn't sure how they got ratted out and he is pleading his case. He wants to have a good reputation with Kat. "Mike lowered his voice. 'Lets bring him down.'" Mike wants to put his coach in jail. This is because he believes that the coach stole an identity and is trying to bring him down. He does not find this ok because he kicked a team member off the team because he wanted justice on the team. This is what has been going on in my book, Center Field by Robert Lipsyte.

why good people do bad things

In my book, Center Field, Mike is usually a good person but then a nerd named Alex got on his nerves and they got in a fight. Alex got suspended and might be kicked off his varsity baseball team. He made a bad decision but it doesn’t make him a bad person. He has to do community service and might miss the first game. He is also fighting for center field and from his decision, might not get it. Clearly, the moral of this story is to think about the consequences of your action before you do that action.

My independant reading book

Have you ever imagined being a starter on a varsity team and then being kicked out of your spot by a freshmen? That is what Center Field by Robert Lipsyte is all about. Mike, a junior, thinks he has his junior year under control. He was a starter last year in center field and has a girlfriend. Then a new kid comes in playing the same position as Mike. He is a great hitter and fielder. Mike also has a bad ankle which will not help his chance at making varsity. Mikes life starts falling apart. He gets in a fight at school, he has fights with his girlfriend, and his grades start dropping. will he be able to get his life under control or will he lose to a freshman? You will have to read it to find out.
